Description

Product Description:

Fruit Fly TrapA familiar problem for most homeowners, fruit flies are commonly spotted swarming around kitchen fruit bowls and near garbage storage areas. Don’t let these annoying pests get the best of you — get rid of them with our fast-acting fruit fly apple trap.

The TERRO® Fruit Fly Traps lure adult fruit flies into the trap using a non-toxic, food-based liquid lure. Once the flies enter the trap, they cannot escape to continue breeding and multiplying. And better yet, gone are the days of unsightly traps — this attractive, apple-shaped fruit fly trap looks right at home in any kitchen.

How to Trap Fruit Flies

All stages of a fruit fly infestation depend on moist organic debris to complete the fruit fly life cycle. The non-toxic vinegar found in the fruit fly apple trap lures the flies to the traps and eliminates the infestation. Within a few days of placing the trap near a breeding source, you should see a significant decrease in the number of fruit flies — and might find yourself humming, “Shoo fly, don’t bother me.”

Easy Activation: 2-step process

Simple ActivationYou won’t find an easier trap to use. 1) Empty half (15mL) of the liquid lure into one trap's vapor chamber. 2) Place the traps where fruit flies have been seen and where they won’t be disturbed or tipped over. Discard the trap after 30 days of use. Fruit flies entering the trap can't escape to continue the breeding cycle.

Locate Breeding Areas

Breeding GroundThe key to successful elimination of fruit flies is to locate their breeding source and place a TERRO® Fruit Fly Trap nearby. Fruit flies are commonly spotted swarming around kitchen fruit bowls and near garbage storage areas. Place fruit fly traps behind or under kitchen counters, sinks, dishwashers, near unrefrigerated fruits and vegetables, and any other location where fruit is stored.

DO NOT PURCHASE By Rachel

I agree w/ previous reviews. Either the design has changed, or the liquid that you pour inside. This product is not inexpensive. I called the customer service number and have now been on hold for 6 minutes. RIP OFF. DO NOT PURCHASE. These used to be good, but not anymore.

Often a gnat, drain fly or other type of nuisance fly invasion is mistaken for a fruit fly invasion. If the flies aren’t attracted to the lure, it's more than likely not a fruit fly invasion but rather some other type of nuisance fly. We apologize for this experience. Please feel free to contact our Consumer Relations Team at 800-800-1819 x 458 with any questions or for additional assistance.

New Design is not good By Mic

We use this product a lot however the new design isnt working well. With to older design yellowish apple with lid worked so well. We picked up new one (red apple with no top) and the fruit flies just buzz around it. Will not go in. I am out now looking for some store that carries the older models.

Would rather have the money back for gas bombs...something that may kill them out By Nancy

Have had it out for over a week..can't tell any difference..they will fly around it and never in it..waste of money

Response From Terro®
Susan : Consumer Relations Representative

Hello Nancy,

Thank you for taking the time to share this feedback.  We apologize that the desired results were not seen.

Where are the insects being seen?  If they are near sinks or potted plants, they may be drain flies or fungus gnats rather than fruit flies.  These pests look similar, but will not be attracted to the lure included with this trap.

We would like to learn more and offer further assistance.  Please feel free to contact our Consumer Relations Team at 800-800-1819 x 458 for further help.

BRING BACK THE OLD VERSION OF THESE TRAPS... By MAGGIEMAYQ

BOUGHT TWO DOZEN OF THESE IN THE SPRING AND WAS SURPRISED TO SEE THE CHANGES...JUST TRIED USING THE NEW ONES A FEW WEEKS AGO AND THEY SIMPLY DO NOT WORK. THE OLD VERSION WAS WAY BETTER...YOU COULD SEE THE FLIES ATTRACTED TO THEM AND WATCH THEM GO INSIDE AND GET CAUGHT...NOW THEY JUST FLY AROUND THE TRAPS. YOU COULD ALSO LIFT THE OLD VERSION AND SEE THE TRAPPED FLIES FROM THE BOTTOM..NOT YOU CAN'T SEE WHAT IS INSIDE AND HOW THE TRAP IS WORKING ...OR NOT WORKING...TOO LATE TO RETURN THESE AS I PURCHASED THEM IN THE SPRING...SO I AM NOW OUT TRAPS THAT WORK AND $$$$$...NOT A HAPPY CUSTOMER!!!!

Works great By Britbersob

After a couple of days it started to trap the fruit flies. Works amazing at getting rid of them all. Love these traps and wouldn't buy anything else! They also last a good 30-60 days

Good, but could be improved? By Minna

I've found that this product has made a huge difference with my fruit fly issue! I'm disappointed, however, that this product isn't refillable. Why don't you have refill bottles for this product? Seems so wasteful to throw the plastic "apples" away and buy new ones. Would be great if you had a design that was refillable.

Did not work By Lynn

Waste of money. I bought the 2 pack and they did not catch one single fruit fly! Had a similar trap from a different company set next to the terro traps and that one trapped multiple flies. Dont bother buying these

Response From Terro®
Patty : Consumer Relations Representative

We appreciate the time taken to provide this feedback and apologize for the experience, Lynn.

This product will attract and trap fruit flies.  Other flying insects that look similar, such as fungus gnats and drain flies, will not be attracted.  The trap has not been tested for use in conjunction with other products.  Feel free to contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-800-800-1819 x 458 with any additional questions.

New design doesnt work By George

The new red design doesnt work as well as the older model. The reason is the change to the entrance size and shape. Just take the shape of the old model and change the color to red and it will work.

All About

Fruit Flies

Fruit flies are commonly found in homes, grocery stores and restaurants; anywhere food may be rotting and fermenting. Most noticeable summer through fall, fruit flies can be a nuisance year-round.

As the name implies, fruit flies are attracted to fruits, as well as vegetables, sitting out on store shelves, in bowls in kitchens and ripening in the garden.

FAQs

How do the TERRO® Fruit Fly Traps work to control fruit fly invasions

All stages of a fruit fly infestation depend on moist organic debris to complete the fruit fly life cycle. The non-toxic, food based liquid in the TERRO® Fruit Fly Trap lures adult flies into the traps. Once the flies enter the trap, they cannot escape to continue breeding and multiplying.

The insects swarming around my house aren’t attracted to the TERRO® Fruit Fly Trap I just purchased. Can you explain why?

Often a gnat, drain fly or other type of nuisance fly invasion is mistaken for a fruit fly invasion. As their name suggest, fruit flies are attracted to fruit - they’re small, winged insects typically found around ripe produce in your kitchen, near garbage cans and open bottles of wine.

To determine what type of infestation you’re dealing with, simply place a TERRO® Fruit Fly trap near the area where the insects are swarming. If the flies aren’t attracted to the lure, you’re most likely not dealing with a fruit fly invasion.
