Description

Product Description:

Fruit Fly TrapA familiar problem for most homeowners, fruit flies are commonly spotted swarming around kitchen fruit bowls and near garbage storage areas. Don’t let these annoying pests get the best of you — get rid of them with our fast-acting fruit fly apple trap.

The TERRO® Fruit Fly Traps lure adult fruit flies into the trap using a non-toxic, food-based liquid lure. Once the flies enter the trap, they cannot escape to continue breeding and multiplying. And better yet, gone are the days of unsightly traps — this attractive, apple-shaped fruit fly trap looks right at home in any kitchen.

How to Trap Fruit Flies

All stages of a fruit fly infestation depend on moist organic debris to complete the fruit fly life cycle. The non-toxic vinegar found in the fruit fly apple trap lures the flies to the traps and eliminates the infestation. Within a few days of placing the trap near a breeding source, you should see a significant decrease in the number of fruit flies — and might find yourself humming, “Shoo fly, don’t bother me.”

Easy Activation: 2-step process

Simple ActivationYou won’t find an easier trap to use. 1) Empty half (15mL) of the liquid lure into one trap's vapor chamber. 2) Place the traps where fruit flies have been seen and where they won’t be disturbed or tipped over. Discard the trap afer 30 days of use. Fruit flies entering the trap can't escape to continue the breeding cycle.

Locate Breeding Areas

Breeding GroundThe key to successful elimination of fruit flies is to locate their breeding source and place a TERRO® Fruit Fly Trap nearby. Fruit flies are commonly spotted swarming around kitchen fruit bowls and near garbage storage areas. Place fruit fly traps behind or under kitchen counters, sinks, dishwashers, near unrefrigerated fruits and vegetables, and any other location where fruit is stored.

Response From Terro®
Lauren : Consumer Relations Representative

Hello Joe,

Thank you for sharing this feedback. These traps are designed to attract fruit flies. If the insects in the home are not attracted to the trap, they may be a similar-looking fly such as a drain fly or fungus gnat, which are commonly found in homes as well.

We would like to learn more about this experience and take this opportunity to make things right. Please feel free to contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-800-800-1819 x 458 for additional assistance.

Product worked exactly as described By Charles Davis \"Charles\"

Product worked exactly as described. We seemed to have a rapid invasion of fruit flies in our home and it was BEYOND frustrating! Within about 4 days, there were hundreds of them flying in our kitchen, bathrooms, and living areas. We didn't have any fruit laying about, so we were pulling our hair out trying to figure out what exactly they were after. It was made worse by the fact that they were the aggressive type - they'd flock all over our food while we were trying to eat, even try to fly in our mouths!! So, after trying every possible remedy, we finally found this little miracle at our local Trader Joe's. Setup was very easy and clean. The "bait" liquid smelled of rotten fruit, which immediately attracted several of them before I could even pour it into the trap! As many other people have reported, dozens of them flew and landed on the trap right away, but not a single one took the bait. It was very discouraging, but after reading the reviews from other people, we knew it wouldn't be long. Sure enough, by the next morning, there were dozens lying dead inside the trap! And by the end of the week, not a single fruit fly left in sight. We are very pleased with this fruit fly trap, and it's inconspicuous, which is very convenient. So far, we're completely rid of our fruit fly problem and will not hesitate to use this product again in the future. Highly recommended!!

All About

Fruit Flies

Fruit flies are commonly found in homes, grocery stores and restaurants; anywhere food may be rotting and fermenting. Most noticeable summer through fall, fruit flies can be a nuisance year-round.

As the name implies, fruit flies are attracted to fruits, as well as vegetables, sitting out on store shelves, in bowls in kitchens and ripening in the garden.

FAQs

How do the TERRO® Fruit Fly Traps work to control fruit fly invasions

All stages of a fruit fly infestation depend on moist organic debris to complete the fruit fly life cycle. The non-toxic, food based liquid in the TERRO® Fruit Fly Trap lures adult flies into the traps. Once the flies enter the trap, they cannot escape to continue breeding and multiplying.

The insects swarming around my house aren’t attracted to the TERRO® Fruit Fly Trap I just purchased. Can you explain why?

Often a gnat, drain fly or other type of nuisance fly invasion is mistaken for a fruit fly invasion. As their name suggest, fruit flies are attracted to fruit - they’re small, winged insects typically found around ripe produce in your kitchen, near garbage cans and open bottles of wine.

To determine what type of infestation you’re dealing with, simply place a TERRO® Fruit Fly trap near the area where the insects are swarming. If the flies aren’t attracted to the lure, you’re most likely not dealing with a fruit fly invasion.
