Description

Product Description:

To kill common household ants, simply place the pre-filled, ready-to-use liquid ant bait stations near indoor areas where ants are spotted. TERRO® Liquid Ant Baits are specifically designed to allow worker ants to consume the product and survive long enough to carry the liquid back to the nest and deliver a dose to the rest of the colony. Complete control may take up to two weeks.

The liquid ant bait stations prevent the bait from drying out and provide the ants with a continuous supply of liquid, day and night.

How Does It Work?

This is a bait product, so initially you’re going to see more ants — lots more. Here’s why — as ant foragers look for food, they are attracted to the sweet liquid ant bait. Once foraging worker ants find the liquid ant bait, they consume it and drop what is called a ‘pheromone trail’ back to the nest that lets all the other worker ants know where a food supply has been found. This is why you will initially see more ants when using the liquid ant baits.

While the active ingredient in the TERRO® Liquid Ant Baits will ultimately kill the worker ant, it sneakily interferes with the ant's digestive system and works slowly enough that the worker has time to get back and share the ant bait with the rest of the colony.

Click to EnlargeThis slow kill is needed to allow time for the foraging ants to make several trips to the bait and deliver enough bait to the rest of the colony. Baiting enables you to get rid of both the ants you see and the ants you don't.

The liquid ant bait station should remain as undisturbed as possible while the ants are actively feeding on it. Because this is a bait product, it is important to eliminate all other food sources in the area. This will ensure that the ants aren’t tempted to eat anything but the (deadly) liquid ant bait.

Where to Place Ant Bait Stations

Simply place the TERRO® Liquid Ant Baits near ant trails or areas where ants are numerous. It’s also a good idea to stop ants in their tracks by placing additional bait stations anywhere ants may try to infiltrate your home. For best results, use all six bait stations to ensure a sufficient supply for the unsuspecting ants to feast on. Be sure to place the bait stations where pets or children cannot gain access to them.

Keep your eye on the TERRO® Liquid Ant Baits to monitor activity, but resist the temptation to interfere when you witness the ants coming in droves to feast on the bait. Your patience will pay off as you watch your ant infestation dwindle and then disappear.

When necessary, replace with additional bait stations when the first set is depleted. Once your ant problem is under control, replace the TERRO® Liquid Ant Baits every three months to keep the ants from marching back into your home.

Feeding Time

Now that you know how the liquid ant bait actually works and where to place the bait stations, it’s time for the feeding frenzy to begin. Break apart the bait stations, hold upright, cut off the colored part with a pair of scissors, and place the station where it’s needed. Depending on the size of the infestation, complete control may take up to two weeks.

The Best Period By Amir

The absolute best ant killing solution I have ever used, works as advertised this is no BS. I put side by side the ortho and the Terro, the ants did not even bother to go near the ortho because the design of the package is elevated too much and I guess the ants don't want to put enough effort to go in and investigate the package, however the Terro worked like a champ within 4 hours pretty much my ant problems went away. Thank you Terro!

Haven't started experiment yet but want to how how the ants will react! By Dashgqw

Hello TERRO my friend and I are doing a 5th grade science fair project and we are using your brand, Hot shot and Raid and we are using these traps. Were using carpenter ants even though I love ant and now a lot about them I don't know if they will be interested in you bait because I don't know what ingredients are in your bait. Do respond as soon as possible telling me what ingredients are in your bait. Thank you very much Yours truly, Dashgqw

Response From Terro®
Jennifer : Consumer Relations Representative

Our liquid ant bait is made up of three main ingredients; Borax, sugar and water. This combination works to attract sweet-eating ants that are looking for a food or water source. Although it is not their primary diet, Carpenter ants do occasionally feed on common sweets such as syrup, honey, jelly, sugar, salt, and fruit, and would be attracted to the sugars in TERRO® liquid bait during these times.

We hope this information was helpful. Please feel free to contact our Consumer Relations Team at 800-800-1819 x 458 with any questions or for additional assistance.

Car infestation By Pteneys

I had an ant problem inside of my car and on the inside of the car doors. I placed a few baits on the roof of the car and by the next morning there was not one in sight. Haven't seen any since. I wasted money having an exterminator come out just to spray some crap in my car and it didn't work. Called another exterminator and since he felt bad for me wasting my money he told me about this stuff. I guess most of them don't want you to know about it because then you would continue to waste your money calling them.

They Really Work! By BrunetteShock

These bait traps are a godsend! They took care of our ant problem from the tiniest brown ants to a few of the good-sized carpenter ants that came into our home! I would highly recommend them!

So far, so good! By DT

I used another product to spray my cupboard and drawers, but they returned to make a trail on my kitchen faucet. I put 2 Terro baits around the base of the faucet. There were so many ants feeding on the bait I added 2 more for backup. I wanted to give up after 24 hours, but today the ants are almost gone, even the ants that were in the bait traps which were filled are gone! I'm hoping the few lone ants will be gone shortly!

Works quickly By Millkat

I got these because another brand didn't seem to be doing much for the sugar ants in my kitchen. Within 5 minutes the 2 baits were full of ants. A couple days later I had no ants coming to the bait. There were alot that died in the bait. I got rid of those and put out a new one. So far no ants, maybe it took care of them?

Unbelievable By Renabird24

I don't even know what to say because I'm still shocked and confused. We have a HUGE ant infestation in our Los Angeles home. We set 2 traps near just 1 of the 4 locations they were coming into. After 1 day the ants were gone! From the entire house! GONE! I don't want to jinx myself but this stuff is miraculous

It just plain works By KICKNBACK

Works perfect I had ants coming out of the light switch in my garage and walking down the drywall going behind a cabinet I didn't want to move a bunch of stuff and had no place flat to put it so I taped it on the wall in the middle of the ant trail at a 45 degree angle so they could get in there easy. About and hour later went back to look to see if it was working and OMG was it I was grossed out the thin line became about an inch wide line and they were taking the bait as fast as they could this lasted about 2 days then not an ant to be seen so I left it there for a week now and still nothing. I figure I will leave it there for another week or so just to make sure there is only a bit of bait left inside and some ants that got greedy and ate themselves to death. Also you can see the ants taking the bait I used my LED flashlight because I didn't want to touch the switch and you could see the ants carrying the bait the ones with the bait had a little bluish dot looked like a glass bead on there back Thanks for a great solution.

Q&A
Q.How can I tell when the liquid is gone? The position of the ant bait traps makes it difficult to see how much is left without picking it up. I have a minor infestation of ants in my bathroom near the tub (seeing about 10 ants a week), but they are coming through a crack in the baseboard, so several more came out when I placed the traps. How long should one trap last under these circumstances?
A.

The clear plastic bait stations are convenient for monitoring bait levels. We recommend removing the product when a dramatic decrease in ants have been seen. This will typically take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks depending on the size of the colony.

Q.Hello! Success! Thank you so much! We have used the bait traps as recommended. We have not seen even one ant for at least 36 hours now—this was after several days of many (many) ants feeding constantly at the bait. How long should I wait after not seeing any ants before removing the bait traps? Is it safe to assume they are dead??? Normally, I would just leave the traps in place, but we had to place the bait traps on our kitchen countertops. We have never ever had an issue on our countertops in over 16 years of living here but this Fall they showed up. We immediately (within the hour of seeing them) used your product and it worked!!! Patience is definitely key. It was very hard to watch the ants crawling around on the counter and resist the temptation to not kill them instantly—however, we took your advice and “baited and waited.” Thank you x1000!
A.

We are happy to hear about your success! As soon as a decrease is seen in the number of ants, we recommend removing the product.

Q.I placed the bait and continue to replace the bait as the ants eat so they have a continuous supply. The ants are aggressively and steadily consuming the bait. It has been a month now and there seems to be no decrease in activity. How long can this possibly continue?
A.

This product kills the ants that consume it within 24-48 hours.  Depending on the size of the colony, it may take several weeks to eliminate the entire colony.

If there has not been a decrease in ant activity for over a month, it is possible that you are fighting either a very large colony, or multiple colonies.
