Ants can be a problem anywhere – in the home, at work and everywhere in between. To kill common household ants, place TERRO® Liquid Ant Baits in areas where they attract foraging ants that take the bait back to the nest. As the bait circulates through the colony, it kills the ants you see and the ones you don’t. The new and improved snap-off tab makes the stations easy to use. Plus, the closed bait stations prevent the bait from drying out to provide the ants with a continuous supply of liquid, day and night. Note: complete control may take up to two weeks. How Liquid Ant Bait Works Since this is a bait, initially you will see more ants – but don’t worry, this is a good thing. Why? As ants forage for food, they are easily attracted to the sweet, sugary liquid inside the bait stations. After finding the bait, worker ants consume it and leave behind a pheromone trail leading back to the colony. This trail lets other worker ants know where the newly discovered food supply is. This is why you will see more ants in the beginning.
Meanwhile, the active ingredient, Borax, is slowly interfering with the ant’s digestive system, ultimately killing it, but leaving enough time for the ant to go back and share the dose with the rest of the colony. This slow kill is necessary so that foraging ants can make several trips to the bait. The communal nature of an ant colony allows the bait to be spread to hundreds, if not thousands, of individual ants.Where to Place Ant Baits
Place TERRO® Liquid Ant Baits near trails and other locations where ants are numerous. It’s also a good idea to place bait stations anywhere ants may try to enter your home. The compact size of the bait stations makes them perfect for placement along baseboards, in corners, on counters, under and behind appliances, and on windowsills. The more bait placements, the better!Easy-Open Tab Each TERRO® Liquid Ant Bait station is sealed so the bait stays fresh until you’re ready to use them. To open the bait, hold the station vertically and twist the new and improved tab. This opens up the station and allows ants to access the bait. Place the entire station on a flat surface, keeping the ant bait inside the station.
Note: Some earlier versions of TERRO® Liquid Ant Bait required it to be opened by scissors. The new snap-off tab eliminates this method of opening, but some earlier versions may still be sold while supplies last. How to Use Liquid Ant Baits
TERRO® Liquid Ant Baits are very easy to use. Before placing the bait stations, be sure to remove other sources of food, such as crumbs, sugar and grease spots to prevent attracting ants elsewhere. Do not place bait where you’ve already sprayed insecticides, as the pests may avoid the bait stations.

The new design is just fine. We have used both with great success. A few minutes after opening it we had SO many ants
Review RateFine businessSure does attracts ants by the hundreds. I used a flat toothpick for a bridge or ramp for the ants to get into the trap. Give it a try.
Review Rateterrible design
There is no way to break off the so called end for use. I had to cut with the scissors and then it exploded and went every where in the kitchen. It took about an hour for clean up. This is not a convenient product. It use to have a place to cut the end off and then the ants could enter easily. This new opening is an engineers nightmare! Will not purchase againResponse From Terro®Kathryn : Consumer Relations Representative

Review RateDESIGN FAIL!!
If there were "0" stars this "new and improved" product would deserve it. The opening of the new 'snap open' container is too high off of the surface for ants to enter!! The "top" of the container IS level with the surface it sits on, but of course the liquid would leak out. DID YOU TEST THIS THING on small red ants? Apparently not. I'm obviously not the only customer who recognizes this problem. GO BACK TO THE ORIGINAL DESIGN.Response From Terro®Jules : Consumer Relations Representative
Hi there! We are sorry to hear that the ants in your home are not eating the bait! We assure you, ants are great climbers and will be able to find and access the bait through the opening, even though it is not touching the ground. If ants are avoiding TERRO® Liquid Ant Bait, it’s possible they’re just not into sweets for one reason or another (weird, but possible!). When baiting is not the answer, try a contact killing spray or an outdoor treatment like TERRO® Ant Killer Plus. In any case, we are happy to pass along your suggestion of bring back the old design to our Product Managers. We appreciate you taking the time to let us know what you'd like to see from us in the future!
Review RateNot working as expected.
Something is wrong - the ants were all around the bait station and never went in - i was so desperate to get this to work that i poured the liquid on the counter in the line of where the ants were and i finally got them to be attracted to the liquid bait. Don't think that is the way you are supposed to use the product but it was the only thing that worked. Any ideas on products that work for sugar ants would be appreciated.Response From Terro®Kathryn : Consumer Relations Representative

Tried RAID baits with no success. Got the Terro liquid baits and as soon as I placed them, hundreds of ants came out of nowhere. The next morning I could not find one ant. This stuff is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review RateDesign change sucks!!
Why would you change the design of something that works??? Just dumb!!Response From Terro®Kathryn : Consumer Relations Representative

Review Ratethe new design is horrible
As a re-seller of this product and we use these stations in our pest control business, the new design is horrible. The ants just don't visit them like they used too. The new design is easier to tip creating a big mess! Hopefully you will go back to the old design and soon.Response From Terro®Lauren : Consumer Relations Representative

Review RateBring back the old style
New design is not so good. Ants need a tiny ladder to get in. I am reusing the old style trap and just pouring in the fresh bait.Response From Terro®Kathryn : Consumer Relations Representative
We appreciate your feedback, and have shared your comments with our Product Managers. Ants should still be able to climb into the bait stations. Please contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-844-837-7644 for assistance with our 30-day guarantee and 1-year replacement policy.
Review RateNew design doesn't work!
I've had two of the redesigned Terro bait stations placed in areas with visible ant activity, but they are just not climbing into the bait stations. I was even concerned I had it upside down, so one got flipped over this morning with no effect. The stations are also really hard to check inside of to see if there are even one or two ants inside without spilling the liquid. Not ONE ant has crawled into either station. The old bait stations were WONDERFUL and I was a walking advertisement for this brand. I'm so disappointed and hope I can find a source that still sells the old design for a while. PLEASE go back to the old design!Response From Terro®Kathryn : Consumer Relations Representative
We appreciate your feedback! Ants are able to climb into these stations, so they may simpley not be interested in sweet-based foods at this time. If this occurrs, one of our contact-killing products may be needed. Please contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-844-837-7644 for assistance, we're happy to help!
- All About
There are more than 10,000 known species of ants living throughout the world. Like other insects, they have six legs; each with three joints. Ants have large heads with compound eyes, elbowed antennae and powerful jaws. Ants are social insects that live in structured nest communities throughout the world. The species of ant determines whether they live underground, in mounds built at ground level, in wood structures or in plants or trees.
Why are ants always invading my kitchen, bathroom and laundry areas?
Ants are attracted to food, water and shelter. Kitchens, bathrooms and laundry rooms provide at least two of these conditions, making it an ideal haven for ants to congregate.
What’s the difference between liquid and gel ant baits?
It’s a little known fact that adult worker ants cannot digest solid food (bait). Their anatomy is designed for transporting and digesting liquids only. Solid foods must be carried back to the colony for additional processing by the larvae stage. Liquid baits exploit this unique physiology by making it easy for ants to transport the liquid bait back to the rest of the colony, including the queen, larvae and other workers.
How long does it take to eliminate an ant colony with TERRO® Liquid Ant Bait?
Remember, this is a BAIT ant control product and will initially attract a lot of ants. The ants consume large quantities of the bait and then return to the nest and share it with the rest of the colony, including the queen, eventually eliminating the entire colony. This process can take from just a couple days to several weeks, depending on the size of the colony. Each ant that consumes the bait will die within 24 - 48 hours. It is important to leave the bait as undisturbed as possible while the ants are actively feeding on it. You should replace it only if it becomes inaccessible to the ants, or empty.
