Description

Product Description:

To kill common household ants, simply place the pre-filled, ready-to-use liquid ant bait stations near indoor areas where ants are spotted. TERRO® Liquid Ant Baits are specifically designed toallow worker ants to consume the product and survive long enough to carry the liquid back to the nest and deliver a dose to the rest of the colony. Complete control may take up to two weeks.

The liquid ant bait stations prevent the bait from drying out and provide the ants with a continuous supply of liquid, day and night.

How Does It Work?

This is a bait product, so initially you’re going to see more ants — lots more. Here’s why — as ant foragers look for food, they are attracted to the sweet liquid ant bait. Once foraging worker ants find the liquid ant bait, they consume it and drop what is called a ‘pheromone trail’ back to the nest that lets all the other worker ants know where a food supply has been found. This is why you will initially see more ants when using the liquid ant baits.

While the active ingredient in the TERRO® Liquid Ant Baits will ultimately kill the worker ant, it sneakily interferes with the ant's digestive system and works slowly enough that the worker has time to get back and share the ant bait with the rest of the colony.

Click to EnlargeThis slow kill is needed to allow time for the foraging ants to make several trips to the bait and deliver enough bait to the rest of the colony. Baiting enables you to get rid of both the ants you see and the ants you don't.

The liquid ant bait station should remain as undisturbed as possible while the ants are actively feeding on it. Because this is a bait product, it is important to eliminate all other food sources in the area. This will ensure that the ants aren’t tempted to eat anything but the (deadly) liquid ant bait.

Where to Place Ant Bait Stations

Simply place the TERRO® Liquid Ant Baits near ant trails or areas where ants are numerous. It’s also a good idea to stop ants in their tracks by placing additional bait stations anywhere ants may try to infiltrate your home. For best results, use all six bait stations to ensure a sufficient supply for the unsuspecting ants to feast on. Be sure to place the bait stations where pets or children cannot gain access to them.

Keep your eye on the TERRO® Liquid Ant Baits to monitor activity, but resist the temptation to interfere when you witness the ants coming in droves to feast on the bait. Your patience will pay off as you watch your ant infestation dwindle and then disappear.

When necessary, replace with additional bait stations when the first set is depleted. Once your ant problem is under control, replace the TERRO® Liquid Ant Baits every three months to keep the ants from marching back into your home.

Feeding Time

Now that you know how the liquid ant bait actually works and where to place the bait stations, it’s time for the feeding frenzy to begin. Break apart the bait stations, hold upright, cut off the colored part with a pair of scissors, and place the station where it’s needed. Depending on the size of the infestation, complete control may take up to two weeks.

Best traps ever! No other needed! By Kelly

The first time I used this product (Early Summer), I was amazed by the number of ants that made their way back to my kitchen counter to feast on the product. After a couple of days, there were NO MORE ants, so I threw away the traps, and never saw anymore ants that Summer! I pick some up every year now and will NEVER use any other product to kill ants...no need to!!

    Worked Great! By Ttiwel

I was so pleased with how the Terro liquid ant bait worked. I tried a different brand of bait last summer and the ants didn't seem to like it at all. When they started coming back a few weeks ago I decided to try this and it worked great! I put one bait on the side table in my living room, one on the bathroom counter and one in the kitchen, all places I'd had problems with ants before.... There was a steady stream of ants visiting the baits for two days or so & after that I have hardy had an ant problem at all, just noticing a few here and there. It worked so well that I bought some to give to my neighbors! I am going to recommend it to everyone at the next homeowners association meeting.

It works if you have patience to let it work By orn

This works, if you have the patience to let them come, take the bait back to the nest, but it may take a few days, watching them coming to the bait and retreating to the crevices from whence they came. Then one day they are gone !!! No spraying near food of places you would put you hands, or the kids would put their hands. Easy if you have patience.

It ABSOLUTELY worked!! By Anti Ant Lady

I agree with the other reviews that stated that once you put the traps out the problem will seem to get worse before it gets better because you soon will find the ants are attracted to the bates. But then within a matter of a day they are 100% gone. It's amazing. An inexpensive way to get rid of a massive problem. Love this product. And I'm so grateful to my friend that referred me to Terro!

Ants are gone like that! By Alyeska1

Had a little bit of a sugar ant problem in our house, I had used the usual ant bait traps that you see at the local grocery store to no avail. I went online to see what was out there and found TERRO Liquid Ant Bait products with the high recommendations and great reviews. I ordered six packs of these traps and set them out as soon as they arrived at my doorstep. I am amazed, like they said, it got worse for a couple hours after setting them out because the ants instantly were drawn to these traps. In about a day and a half later and there were no ants to be seen in the house! Excellent product and I would highly recommend it for ants!

It took less than two days By It took less than two days

These are amazing, honestly. I put down two and within two days they're completely gone. It does get worse before it gets better, but honestly it's kind of satisfying and fascinating to watch the ants swarming it.

Terro works in San Francisco's Sunset District By Mike

After I moved into the house ants invaded. I spent $100s of dollars on bait to find out which bait worked for the type of ants I have here. Results validated and confirmed. Terro works in San Francisco's Sunset District.

Getting rid of ants By Eagle Eye

I bought these a few weeks ago. They work great. I just didn't need 12 boxes. I only wanted two boxes. Now I know why the bill was so high. But, I would highly recommend this prduct for anyone suffering from the onslaught of ants like I was.

Easy to use but not as effective... By HelloGardener

I bought this item to kill residual ants left in a flower pot that I wanted to bring indoors for the winter. Perhaps some kill, but still have ants coming out of the pot.

    Response From Terro®
    Patty : Consumer Relations Representative

We appreciate the time taken to provide this feedback and apologize for the experience. This bait is designed to kill the ants that consume it within 24-48 hours. This allows them time to take the bait back to the colony to share with other ants. Depending on the size of the colony, it may take several weeks until a decrease in numbers is seen. We recommend continuing to apply the bait until there is a sharp drop in the number of ants. Please give our Consumer Relations Team a call at 1-800-800-1819 x 458 with additional questions.

    Amazing! By Star
Went from an invasion of hundreds of ants to none in days.
I cannot express in words how much Terro has saved my house. My ant invasion was so bad, there were ants in the furniture and all over my bed. I had to sleep on the couch for a week!
At first, the ant bait didn't attract much ants, but when I returned an hour later the tin was BLACK.
I set up the baits last week and in 2-3 days all the ants were gone.
Next winter I know what I'm buying again!

    Ants

There are more than 10,000 known species of ants living throughout the world. Like other insects, they have six legs; each with three joints. Ants have large heads with compound eyes, elbowed antennae and powerful jaws. Ants are social insects that live in structured nest communities throughout the world. The species of ant determines whether they live underground, in mounds built at ground level, in wood structures or in plants or trees.

    More About Ants

    FAQs

Why are ants always invading my kitchen, bathroom and laundry areas?

Ants are attracted to food, water and shelter. Kitchens, bathrooms and laundry rooms provide at least two of these conditions, making it an ideal haven for ants to congregate.

What’s the difference between liquid and gel ant baits?

It’s a little known fact that adult worker ants cannot digest solid food (bait). Their anatomy is designed for transporting and digesting liquids only. Solid foods must be carried back to the colony for additional processing by the larvae stage. Liquid baits exploit this unique physiology by making it easy for ants to transport the liquid bait back to the rest of the colony, including the queen, larvae and other workers.

How long does it take to eliminate an ant colony with TERRO® Liquid Ant Bait?

Remember, this is a BAIT ant control product and will initially attract a lot of ants. The ants consume large quantities of the bait and then return to the nest and share it with the rest of the colony, including the queen, eventually eliminating the entire colony. This process can take from just a couple days to several weeks, depending on the size of the colony. Each ant that consumes the bait will die within 24 - 48 hours. It is important to leave the bait as undisturbed as possible while the ants are actively feeding on it. You should replace it only if it becomes inaccessible to the ants, or empty.
