Terro® Ant & Roach Baits

When you have a bug problem, you want it to be handled as fast and as simply as possible. TERRO® Ant & Roach Baits offer a 2-in-1 solution that eliminates the need for multiple products. The top portion of the bait station houses a sweet liquid bait to attract ants, while the bottom portion contains a protein-based paste bait to target roaches and silverfish. For your convenience, each of the four bait stations comes pre-filled and ready to use.

Eliminate Ants

Liquid Bait Eliminates Ants

Since this is a bait, initially you will see more ants – but don’t worry, this is a good thing. As ants forage for food, they are easily attracted to the sweet liquid inside the bait stations. After finding the bait, worker ants consume it and leave behind a pheromone trail leading back to the colony. This trail lets other worker ants know where the newly discovered food supply is. This is why you will see more ants in the beginning.

Meanwhile, the active ingredient is slowly interfering with each ant’s digestive system, ultimately killing them, but leaving enough time for the ants to go back and share the dose with the rest of the colony. This slow kill is necessary so that foraging ants can make several trips to the bait, allowing you to get rid of both the ants you see and the ants you don’t.

Paste Bait Targets Roaches

The paste bait, located in the bottom portion of the trap, features a protein-based bait that attracts and kills roaches and silverfish, as well as some non-sweet-eating ants. Just like the liquid bait, it is designed to attract the target pest, so you may initially see more insects. As the active ingredient takes its toll, populations will decrease. In addition, there are three entry points to increase the effectiveness.

Where to place baits

Where to Place Ant & Roach Baits

Place TERRO® Ant & Roach Baits near ant trails and locations where roaches and other insects are numerous. It’s also a good idea to place bait stations anywhere insects may try to enter your home. The compact size of the bait stations makes them perfect for discreet placement along baseboards, in corners, on counters, under and behind appliances, on windowsills and near garbage cans.

Bait Stays Fresh

For your convenience, TERRO® Ant & Roach Baits feature a stay-fresh tab that will keep the liquid bait fresh until it’s opened. Once you’ve chosen the perfect location, simply break off the tab and put the bait station in place!

Bait Stays Fresh
How to use

Where to Place Ant & Roach Baits

TERRO® Ant & Roach Baits are very easy to use. Before placing the bait stations, be sure to remove other sources of food, such as crumbs, sugar and grease spots to prevent attracting them elsewhere. Do not place bait where you’ve already sprayed insecticides, as the pests may avoid the bait stations.

  1. Hold the bait station firmly with bait pack tab facing up. Break off the tab being careful not to spill the bait.
  2. Place the bait station on a flat surface near signs of target pests. Place additional bait stations anywhere ants, roaches or silverfish may enter your home. Heavily infested areas may require additional stations.
  3. Monitor placements regularly, but do not interfere with the pests or bait stations. Replace when bait is depleted or every 3 months!

Product Questions

Baby ants are swarming the bait but it does not appear that they are entering the station. It appears that they are just swarming around the opening and not actually going in.
Question by: Jane Collins on Apr 7, 2021, 8:00 PM
If ants are avoiding bait, it’s possible they’re just not into sweets for one reason or another (weird, but possible!).  When baiting is not the answer, try a contact killing spray or an outdoor treatment like TERRO® Ant Killer Plus.  Here’s a link for more information on how to get rid of ants.

hey there,
is it safe to place a trap while having a dogat the house?
Question by: surur on Jun 24, 2019, 8:00 PM
We recommend placing the bait stations out of reach of children and pets.

I bought a package of this product a year or two ago, and haven’t used all the traps. Are they still good, or do they expire after a certain amount of time, losing their effectiveness?
Question by: Susan on Jul 24, 2019, 8:00 PM
As long as the ant bait is still liquid inside the station, product will be effective.
Answer by: Woodstream (Admin) on Jul 28, 2019, 8:00 PM
Does the roach bait activate automatically? For ants we just cut the container "spout", but for roaches it appears the paste is in the bottom and accessible when they walk in and there is nothing to do except put the unit on the floor.
Question by: Bob on Jul 28, 2019, 8:00 PM
The paste is active immediately and does not require a seal to be removed in order to be effective.
Answer by: Woodstream (Admin) on Jul 28, 2019, 8:00 PM
After using the liquid ant bait for about 6 days, it looked like nearly all the ants were gone. After a massive rush of hundreds if not thousands of ants on day 2, I could only see 2-3 ants on day 6. Now, after leaving the trap out another night, there are hundreds of ants again, coming from the same place.

Is this normal? Or have I attracted a whole new colony of ants to eradicate?

Thank you!
Question by: Andie on Feb 2, 2020, 7:00 PM
If the ants have returned, this could be due to a very large colony or multiple colonies feeding from the bait. It can take up to two weeks to eliminate an entire colony, depending on its size. We recommend to continue baiting until the number of ants has lessened again.
