I have set a few baits over 1 week ago and they still keep coming. They are in a bedroom without any other food source. When will they stop?
Question by: Barbara Weimar on May 4, 2023, 11:26 AM
It can take up to two weeks to eliminate a colony. If you are still seeing ants after this time, it is possible that you are dealing with multiple colonies, or an extremely large colony.

I have some unopened baits from last year that I would like to use but they have turned an amber color. Will they still be effective?
Question by: Susan on May 19, 2024, 8:41 AM
TERRO® Liquid Ant Bait is typically a clear liquid. Sometimes it will turn an amber/brownish color. The good news is as long as it is in a liquid state it will still work. It is only when the product begins to crystallize or harden that it is no longer effective.

I have small black ants in my kitchen. I set out three bait traps several days ago. The ants seemed to go for the traps. But they’ve stopped going into them. There are dead ants in one of the traps, maybe a couple in another one and none in the third. There is plenty of liquid left in all three. Do I need to do something to get them to continue taking the bait?
Question by: Brian Matlock on Nov 16, 2024, 6:46 PM
Our ant bait contains the active ingredient Borax. This, along with the sugar, attracts and kills the worker ants that forage for food. It will kill the ants that consume it within 24-48 hours, giving them time to share it with the other ants in their colony, including the queen.

This is a bait - you will initially see more ants. The scout ants find the bait and put down a pheromone trail to let the other ants know where the new food source is.

Small infestations can usually be controlled within 24-48 hours, but large or multiple colonies may take up to 10 days.

The bait will be effective as long as it is liquid - but we recommend replacing the bait after two years. If it begins to crystallize or harden, it should be replaced.

The bait is clear, however over time it may turn amber/brown. As long as it is still liquid, it will still be effective.

If you are still seeing live ants but they are not going into the traps, try placing the traps in different areas.
