Have you spotted fruit flies swarming around your kitchen or garbage can? With the TERRO® Fruit Fly Trap you can get the best of these annoying household pests in no time! This fast-acting trap uses a non-toxic liquid bait to lure adult fruit flies inside. Once the flies enter the trap, they cannot escape to continue breeding and multiplying. The trap also features an attractive apple-shaped design that will look at home in any kitchen.
Easy to Use
Getting rid of fruit flies in your home has never been easier! Just follow these four simple steps.
Set the traps upright on a solid surface and remove the cap from the lure bottle.
Insert the tip of the lure bottle into the center hole of the trap. Empty half of the bottle into each trap.
Place the traps in areas where you’ve spotted fruit flies in a spot where they will not be disturbed or tipped.
Discard the traps after 45 days of use.
How Do They Work?
Fruit flies depend on moist organic debris. The TERRO® Fruit Fly Trap lures adult fruit flies to the trap using a special food-based liquid lure. Flies that enter the trap are unable to escape and continue breeding. In a matter of days, you should begin to notice a dramatic decrease in the number of fruit flies around your home.
Attractive Apple Design
Gone are the days of unsightly traps taking up space inside your home! This trap features an attractive apple-shaped design that will look at home in any kitchen. It also blends in with the fruit these pests love! For your convenience, the trap also has a built-in window, allowing you to keep an eye on catches and lure levels.
Locating Breeding Areas
When trying to eliminate fruit flies, the key to success is locating their breeding areas. You’ll typically spot fruit flies swarming around kitchen fruit bowls and near garbage cans. Place traps behind or under kitchen counters, sinks, dishwashers, near unrefrigerated fruits and vegetables, and any other location where fruit is stored.

They're able to get out of the trap, making it entirely useless.
The holes are too large and the inlaid tunnels the flies have to go through are too short.
The original design with one, long tunnel they had to get through was more effective.
I bought this product off Amazon. I’ve tried many attractants for fruit flues including apple cider vinegar, and other specialized refill liquids. This product has been the best performing. I would prefer to just buy the formula as a refill rather than having to repurchase the plastic carriers all the time though.
This product labels the liquid bait as “non-toxic” but this claim is indeterminate without an ingredient list, subjective to the species being exposed as well as the quantity of exposure to species in question. Terro refuses to share an ingredient list so this product will never be used in a home with dogs, cats, children, or any home of mine, period.
Thank you for this feedback. We're sorry to hear that the desired results were not seen with this trap. Fruit flies cannot resist our liquid lure and will eventually find their way into the TERRO® Fruit Fly Trap. However, fungus gnats and drain flies are often mistaken for fruit flies, and these pesky little insects are not attracted to this trap. It has a 30 day return period at the retailer.

Have used these traps successfully for many years. They never fail to reduce the fruitfly population to near zero. Will continue to use these.

What is the longest distance these traps can attract fruit flies from? I am trying to cover a large trailer shared space work area and need to know how far apart or how close to space multiple traps for full coverage.

Several people asked (in their reviews) if refills of lure liquid might be available. No one has answered that question. What can you tell us?
Question by: Tom Groot on Oct 14, 2024, 11:24 PM
Refills are not available for these traps. Currently, for hygienic reasons, the traps are designed to be disposable and should be thrown away after 45 days of use.

This product labels the liquid bait as “non-toxic” but this claim is indeterminate without an ingredient list, subjective to the species being exposed as well as the quantity of exposure to species in question. What specific chemicals/fluids is the liquid bait comprised of? Are they “non-toxic” to dogs? Cats? Infants? Please provide an ingredient list.
