TERRO® Outdoor Liquid Ant Baits attract and kill common household ants.
To use, simply place the pre-filled, ready-to-use liquid bait stations outdoors in areas where ants are observed and, if desired, secure baits with the stakes provided. The patented outdoor ant baits prevent the liquid bait from drying out, providing the ants with a continuous supply of food, day and night. Ants typically follow defined trails from the nest to food or water. Placing the outdoor ant baits close to these trails will improve control.
How Does It Work?
While the active ingredient in TERRO® Outdoor Liquid Ant Baits will ultimately kill the worker ant, it interferes with the ant's digestive system and works slowly enough that the worker has time to get back and share the ant bait with the rest of the colony. This slow kill is needed to allow time for the foraging ants to make several trips to the bait and deliver enough bait to the rest of the colony. Baiting enables you to get rid of both the ants you see and the ants you don’t. Complete control may take up to two weeks.

Review RateGreat Product. Seems to be working extremely well.
Well... I saw that i had some ants downstairs and so I had been using other sprays and baits. I laid some of the other brand baits and yes it attracted a few but I still had the problem. I went online and researched and the Terro liquid ant baits seemed to have the highest rating. So this morning I went to target and purchased two six packs of the ant baits. I went to my room and laid down couple. At first one or two showed up and then within an hour literally a thousand or so just started pouring out of the walls seemingly from nowhere, very small hairline cracks in the wall paint hardly visible. I had absolutely NO idea I had an infestation this magnitude. I am genuinely scared enough that I should consider calling an exterminator. I laid the remaining baits with hopes that I have enough. Unbelievable product. Seems to be working very well. I will just keep on supplying bait traps until I see no more ants. Thank you Terro!
Review RateI use Terro products exclusively. Nothing else works so effectively.
We live well off the main roads and pretty much surrounded by woods. I placed two liquid ant baits by two storage sheds, behind the house, bordering the woods. (1 placed inside the shed and 1 outside next to foundation.) For years these structures had ants roaming in/out all season long. It is now end of May, when ants should be all over the structures and there are none. First time ever in 30+ years. This stuff really does the job.
Review RateAfter three months of battles, the Terro outdoor bait won the war!
I'm in Maryland. During the Spring of 2016 I had a major three month long infestation of ants. My parents live a few miles away and they had the same problem. Every remedy I tried at my house I also tried at their house. Everyone I knew said that a few indoor Terro bait stations would rid both houses of the ants within a week. The ants loved the bait, but there was no indication it was slowing them down. It seems the ants lived in the mulch both houses have all around their foundations. I literally used every other ant remedy I could find including indoor and outdoor sprays, numerous "home remedies" I found on the net, and even an exterminator. Nothing worked. Then I stumbled across the outdoor Terro bait. Four stations at each house and within a few days we were all ant free. It seemed too good to be true, but we remained ant free till this spring. In early April 2017 I ordered 36 outdoor bait stations directly from Terro. I put four stations outside each of the two houses and we are all enjoying our first ever ant free spring. I look forward to sharing my extra bait stations with those in need! Thank you Terro!
Review RateTerro is the bestWe never buy any other brand of insect repellent, Terro has always taken care of any issues we have.
Review RatePerfect solutionI live in a mountain area, so ants are a constant presence. I purchased the outdoor ant baits for use inside the house (kitchen, bathroom) and outside and within 2 days, ants stopped swarming in.
Review RateGood stuffNo ants to date.
Review RateFast, Simple, EffectiveWe have used Terro before (with great success in PA) and just moved to the Keys where ants are everywhereee! We set up two liquid outdoor baits (as well as applying some liquid bait inside) about a week ago and have already seen a drastic decrease in the number of ants coming into and/or surrounding the home! We went from lots of ants every day down to an ant or two every other day. When we've used this product before the ants stopped coming into the house completely for at least 6 months, around then a few (very tiny) ants came back, at which point we reapplied terro and the ants again stopped coming into the house. We continued to be ant free for years after. Knowing how fast, effective and simple this solution is we are looking forward to being ant free in our new home! Thank you Terro! I recommend this product to all my friends/family/coworkers! :)
Review RateOutdoor Liquid Ant Baits
Liked the shape and easy to place, and stake down. Didn't like that directions said to push down and do 1/4 turn to tear the seal open. After pushing down could hardly turn it without crushing it and had stuff everywhere. Still waiting to see if it makes a difference and gets rid of the ants..
Review RateGreat for those tiny antsI was so glad when my friend told me about these. They are the best thing we have used to keep those tiny ants out of our house. They last and we put around permineter of our house and have had no problem since. Last at least 3 months.
Review RateNot for outdoors
Placed these under our cottage last night. This morning I see that an animal had opened each one & ate the bait. Haven't had this probem before when using any other spike type baits. Purchased these to kill ants not animals..Response From Terro®Lauren : Consumer Relations Representative
Thank you for taking the time to share this feedback. We apologize for this unusual experience and would like the opportunity to make things right. The active ingredient in the bait is borax, which has a very low toxicity to people and animals.
Our products are backed by a one year warranty for replacement. Please feel free to contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-800-800-1819 x 458 for additional assistance.
- All About
There are more than 10,000 known species of ants living throughout the world. Like other insects, they have six legs; each with three joints. Ants have large heads with compound eyes, elbowed antennae, and powerful jaws. Ants are social insects that live in structured nest communities throughout the world. The species of ant determines whether they live underground, in mounds built at ground level, in wood structures or in plants or trees.
What’s the difference between liquid and gel ant baits? It’s a little known fact that adult worker ants cannot digest solid food (bait). Their anatomy is designed for transporting and digesting liquids only. Solid foods must be carried back to the colony for additional processing by the larvae stage. Liquid baits exploit this unique physiology by making it easy for ants to transport the liquid bait back to the rest of the colony, including the queen, larvae and other workers.
I just placed several TERRO® Liquid Ant Baits on my deck and it’s attracting more ants, not killing them! What’s going on?You have nothing to worry about! Initially, you will see more ants. As ant foragers look for food, they are attracted to the sweet liquid in the bait which they consume and carry back to feed to the rest of the colony. On the way back to the nest, the ants drop what it called a ‘trail pheromone’, letting the other ants know where the tasty food supply is. In turn, these ants follow the trail to the bait which explains why you initially see more ants.
The active ingredient in the bait interferes with the ants' digestive systems, eventually killing the ants within 24-48 hours after consumption. This slow kill gives the worker ants enough to get back and share the bait with the colony. Baiting is the only way to successfully wipe out the ants you see and the thousands you don’t.
