Long lasting and weather resistant, TERRO® Perimeter Ant Bait Plus granules kill entire colonies of outdoor ants – including carpenter ants. The bait also eliminates cockroaches, crickets, earwigs, silverfish, slugs and snails, but will not harm beneficial insects such as ladybugs and butterflies.
How it Works
Outdoor ant problems are an annoyance, but they can also lead to indoor ant problems as ants travel in search of food. TERRO® Perimeter Ant Bait Plus is designed to kill ants and other pests outdoors, keeping an indoor invasion at bay.
Ants are drawn to the sweet ingredients in TERRO® Perimeter Ant Bait. The bait, which is borate-based and formulated with a concern for the environment, has a delayed effect on ants.
While the active ingredient in the bait will ultimately kill the worker ant, it works slowly enough that the worker has time to get back and share the bait with the rest of the colony, including the queen. A slow kill is needed to allow time for the foraging ants to make several trips to the bait and deliver enough bait to the rest of the colony and the queen — this is the only way to eradicate the entire colony.
Long-lasting and Effective
TERRO® Perimeter Ant Bait Plus granules are packaged in a 2 lb. shaker bottle, making it easy to spread the granules around the perimeter of a typical house — no spreader is needed. Long-lasting, the weather-resistant granules won’t break down when exposed to the elements. It will stand up to sunlight, heat and rain, and remain effective until consumed by the ants and other unwanted insects.

So I made the mistake first of putting this directly on the mounds. It didn't appear to do anything at all. The ants merely relocated and then came back after a while to the same spot. So instead I used it as a barrier around the house. With over 20 trees in my yard, ants are a major problem. Normally we start getting ants into the house in early spring. I applied this according to the directions all around the house as a barrier and so far only one ant has entered the house. It will be interesting to see how this works over time. I like the container and it is easy to pour and hold. I would purchase again as I've seen results when used as a barrier. Now I need to find something to address the mounds.
