TERRO® Outdoor Liquid Ant Baits attract and kill common household ants.
To use this outdoor liquid ant bait, simply place the pre-filled, ready-to-use liquid bait stations outdoors in areas where ants are observed and, if desired, secure the baits with the stakes provided. The patented outdoor ant baits prevent the liquid bait from drying out, providing the ants with a continuous supply of food, day and night. Ants typically follow defined trails from the nest to food or water. Placing the outdoor ant baits close to these trails will improve control.
How Does This Outside Ant Control Work?
While the active ingredient in TERRO® Outdoor Liquid Ant Baits will ultimately kill the worker ant, this outdoor ant bait interferes with the ant's digestive system and works slowly enough that the worker has time to get back and share the ant bait with the rest of the colony. This slow kill is needed to allow time for the foraging ants to make several trips to the outdoor ant bait stations and deliver enough bait to the rest of the colony. Baiting enables you to get rid of both the ants you see and the ants you don’t. Complete control may take up to two weeks.

Not sure about this stuff. I used as directed. I still have ants almost a full 30 days in use. I have a dog so i have to out the trays slightly out of the way. Perhaps i have super ants... Please advise.Response From Terro®Patty : Consumer Relations Representative
We apologize for this experience and are happy to help.
This bait is designed to kill the ants that consume it within 24-48 hours. This allows them time to take the bait back to the colony to share with other ants. Depending on the size of the colony, it may take several weeks until a decrease in numbers is seen. We recommend continuing to apply the bait until there is a sharp drop in the number of ants.
However, this bait will only attract ants that are seeking sugar. We offer a variety of products (both baits and contact killers) to handle other types of ants or large infestations. Feel free to contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-800-800-1819 x 458 for additional assistance.
This is amazing. Carpenter ants love it. After a day more than 90 percent disappeared. Thx for solving the problem.
Capital A-MAZING!! I had bought these for my newly found ant problem by my garage entrance and within a couple days, I have not seen any more ants in my garage, as I did prior to my purchase of this product. Terro, really understands the inner thoughts of how these ants work. Usually with actual poison, you may get the worker ants and still not hit the actual nest, but this infiltrates and gets rid of your ant problem. I wish I had a NatGeo look as to how it killed my ants, but I just feel good that I don't see them anymore. BYE BYE! Great product!
Review RateLook no further!!
I've bought every carpenter any product on the market and to no avail. I've had pest control coming to my house for a year and that didn't help either. I thought I'd try this and OH MY GOSH.. within a week I barely had any carpenter ants in my house. For the first time in a year I feel comfortable in my own home again. This stuff is great!!!
Review RateThey're actually moving OUT....
I HAD hordes of little black ants driving me nuts crawling all over my computer table and right across the monitor, across my bathroom counter and driveway outside. I put one of the terro outdoor ant bait stations on my window sill in the computer room and within half an hour I had several thousand of them swarming the bait station all night. Im into day 3 and I havent seen them come back yet. still a couple stragglers on the bathroom counter and outside there is a trail of ants moving larvae OUT of the garage wall. I put a couple bait stations underneath the shrubs outside. so far so good riddance !
Review RateIt works!
I was able to walk around outside our house and because of concrete foundation. I could see where the ants were crawling up to come in. Placed bait at those locations and it stopped the ants for a year. Ready to replace now. I used all kinds of bait inside but did not help until I got this product and placed outside.

- All About
There are more than 10,000 known species of ants living throughout the world. Like other insects, they have six legs; each with three joints. Ants have large heads with compound eyes, elbowed antennae and powerful jaws. Ants are social insects that live in structured nest communities throughout the world. The species of ant determines whether they live underground, in mounds built at ground level, in wood structures or in plants or trees.
What’s the difference between liquid and gel ant baits?
It’s a little known fact that adult worker ants cannot digest solid food (bait). Their anatomy is designed for transporting and digesting liquids only. Solid foods must be carried back to the colony for additional processing by the larvae stage. Liquid baits exploit this unique physiology by making it easy for ants to transport the liquid bait back to the rest of the colony, including the queen, larvae and other workers.
I just placed several TERRO® Liquid Ant Baits on my deck and it’s attracting more ants, not killing them! What’s going on?
You have nothing to worry about! Initially, you will see more ants. As ant foragers look for food, they are attracted to the sweet liquid in the bait which they consume and carry back to feed to the rest of the colony. On the way back to the nest, the ants drop what it called a ‘trail pheromone’, letting the other ants know where the tasty food supply is. In turn, these ants follow the trail to the bait which explains why you initially see more ants.
The active ingredient in the bait interferes with the ants' digestive systems, eventually killing the ants within 24-48 hours after consumption. This slow kill gives the worker ants enough to get back and share the bait with the colony. Baiting is the only way to successfully wipe out the ants you see and the thousands you don’t.
